Florida LawWhat is VLT (Visible Light Transmission)?
VLT is the percentage of visible light that passes through the window film. A lower VLT% means a darker tint. For example, 5% VLT (very dark / "limo tint") allows only 5% of light through, while 70% VLT is nearly clear. Florida requires front side windows to have at least 28% VLT.
Reflectivity Limit
Front and back side windows must not be more than 25% reflective. Mirrored or metallic appearances are not permitted.
Tint Colors
Red, amber, and yellow tints are prohibited in Florida. All other colors are generally permitted.
Certification Sticker
Florida law requires a sticker between the film and glass on the driver's side window to certify the tint is legal.
Medical Exemptions
Drivers with certain medical conditions may apply for an exemption allowing darker tint than the standard limits.
Manufacturer Certification
Tint film manufacturers must certify their film meets Florida standards. We only use certified, compliant films.
